Growing local businesses.

The Ontario Craft RTD Coalition is a group of Ontario-owned small businesses advocating to government and trade partners on issues important to our sector including fair market access, expanding retail opportunities and lower taxes. We are committed to using real, locally distilled spirits in our artisanal canned cocktails and seltzers that are made for Ontarians, by Ontarians.

Supporting our communities.

Collectively we employ more than 1,000 people in communities across the province including Toronto, London, Huron County, Muskoka, Niagara, Hamilton, and Barrie. We’ve invested heavily in our bricks-and-mortar facilities and in growing our market in Ontario. We believe in producing innovative, quality products, crafted with care in Ontario by Ontario-owned companies.

Our craft producers.

What we’re fighting for.

We applaud the Ontario government’s decision to expand retail opportunities for RTD producers in grocery and convenience stores and supporting local producers by mandating a 20% shelf space for craft RTD. To ensure Ontario-Made businesses can grow we’re advocating for:

1 - A clear definition for “Small RTD” products that recognizes the investments of Ontario-owned bricks-and-mortar craft producers.

2 - The ability for craft RTD producers to distribute their products to retailers directly, just like craft brewers.

3 - An ‘open’ LCBO wholesale listing process, where any producer can easily list their entire RTD product catalogue without lengthy timelines or burdensome approvals.

4 - An LCBO rebate for producers on RTD products sold through grocery, convenience stores, and on-site brewery/distillery channels similar to margins currently in place for producers who direct distribute to licensees.

5 - A reduced tax rate for small RTD producers similar to the microbrewery tax rate.
